The client wanted to transform the Traditional Island style home into a modern farmhouse retreat for the owner and guest. The existing house retains its island style with Dutch gable roof and board and batten siding. had stucco cladding, casement windows and a large 2-story column porch. The architectural style was popular in the 90’s in coastal areas of Florida, Hilton Head, and Kiawah. The architectural style has neoclassical and Mediterranean influences.

Solution: We reworked the whole interior of the house to add additional bedrooms a large screen porch and pool deck. To create the pool deck, we relocated the garage doors creating a new access to the drive under the garage. Although most of the exterior remained the interior was a complete transformation with exposed beam vaulted ceilings and a large open-concept kitchen, dining, and living space.

Result: The completed renovation is 6 bedrooms and 4.5 baths with a total of 3749 square feet. With a 1312 sq. ft. pool and deck.

This particular project was done for a local builder and his family. We made sure to capitalize on the bluff at the back of the property and to design around it. The house itself was made to fit within the trees and detailed landscaping on the site.
