Architrave was founded in Columbia, South Carolina the Winter of 1987 by Allen and Dale Marshall, an uncle and nephew team. Allen’s son, Bill, worked for Architrave between his undergraduate and graduate studies at Clemson University in the early 1990’s and then settled in Charleston where he had a career working for the Architectural Review Boards at Kiawah Island and Daniel Island. Allen spent his career passionately dedicated to his craft. He designed more than fifty churches throughout South Carolina and more than a thousand residential and commercial projects.
Allen passed away in November of 2012. That year, Architrave changed ownership to Dale and Bill Marshall who rejoined the firm in 2009 and Dale and Bill moved forward as partners. The firm has called Blanding Street in Columbia home for over 30 years. Justin Washburn joined the firm in 2014. Dale and Justin primarily manage the Columbia projects while Bill leads the projects in the Lowcountry, specifically on Kiawah Island.
Through residential construction and renovation, historical preservation and church design, Architrave has made its mark on the Palmetto State and continues to do so.
